The highly anticipated fifth and final season of Prime Video's hit superhero drama is officially gearing up for production, as confirmed by cast member Laz Alonso through a recent Instagram post.

Alonso, who portrays Mother's Milk in the series, shared a heartwarming reunion photo featuring key cast members including Antony Starr (Homelander), Jessie T. Usher (A-Train), Jack Quaid (Hughie Campbell), Karl Urban (Billy Butcher), Chace Crawford (The Deep), Nathan Mitchell (Black Noir II), and Colby Minifie (Ashley Barrett).

The cast gathering comes as production prepares to commence in late November, as previously announced by showrunner Eric Kripke. This final season follows the dramatic events of season 4, which saw Homelander gaining unprecedented power by manipulating the new President of the United States, Steven Calhoun, effectively commanding an army of superheroes.

While fans will have to wait until 2026 for the series conclusion, following the show's typical two-year production cycle, the expanded universe continues to grow. The spinoff series Gen V bridges the gap with its second season, scheduled for release in 2025. The events of "The Boys" season 5 will chronologically follow "Gen V" season 2, which has already completed filming.

This final season represents the last chapter for these beloved characters in the main series, though potential appearances in spinoff shows like "Gen V" and "Vought Rising" remain possible. As the cast reunites for their final run, expectations are high for how this groundbreaking superhero drama will conclude its story.

The reunion photo, captioned by Alonso with "And just like that..... we're back!" marks the beginning of the end for one of Prime Video's most successful series, promising an explosive finale to the superhero saga.
