The Screen Actors Guild announced its 2025 award nominations Wednesday, with movie musical "Wicked" and TV drama "Shogun" emerging as the top contenders with five nominations each.

"Wicked" made SAG Awards history by tying the record for most film nominations, joining classics like "Shakespeare in Love" and "Chicago." The Broadway adaptation secured nods for best cast ensemble, Cynthia Erivo (best actress), Ariana Grande (supporting actress), Jonathan Bailey (supporting actor), and stunt ensemble.

The coveted best motion picture cast category features "Wicked" alongside "A Complete Unknown," "Anora," "Conclave," and "Emilia Pérez." Notably absent was Golden Globe winner "The Brutalist," though its star Adrien Brody earned a best actor nomination.

In a groundbreaking moment, Karla Sofía Gascón became the first openly transgender actor nominated in SAG film categories for "Emilia Pérez." The best actress race also includes Pamela Anderson ("The Last Showgirl"), Cynthia Erivo ("Wicked"), Mikey Madison ("Anora"), and Demi Moore ("The Substance").

On the television side, FX/Hulu's "Shogun" dominated with nominations for drama ensemble, actors Hiroyuki Sanada and Tadanobu Asano, actress Anna Sawai, and stunt ensemble. Other drama ensemble contenders include "The Day of the Jackal," "Bridgerton," "The Diplomat" and "Slow Horses."

The comedy series category features "Abbott Elementary," "The Bear," "Hacks," "Only Murders in the Building" and "Shrinking."

Due to Los Angeles wildfires, the traditional live announcement was replaced with a press release. The 31st annual SAG Awards ceremony, hosted by Kristen Bell, will stream live on Netflix on February 23.
