Actor Patrick Dempsey recently shared his enthusiasm for his latest television project, the upcoming "Dexter: Original Sin" prequel series. Set to premiere on Paramount+ and Showtime in December, the show has Dempsey working alongside notable costars Sarah Michelle Gellar and Christian Slater.

In an exclusive interview, Dempsey, 58, expressed his joy about the production, stating, "It's going great. ... I've had a great time working on it." He highlighted the positive atmosphere on set, describing it as a culture of "great celebration, joy and fun."

The former "Grey's Anatomy" star also reflected on the impact of the recent actors and writers strike, noting the industry's slow recovery. "We're all truly grateful that we have employment," Dempsey said, emphasizing his appreciation for the opportunity to work in the current climate.

Dempsey praised the show's creator, Clyde Phillips, for fostering a collaborative and safe creative environment. He also noted the balanced workload among the ensemble cast, allowing for personal time off.

"Dexter: Original Sin" is set in 1991 and follows a young Dexter Morgan, played by Patrick Gibson, as he evolves from student to vigilante serial killer. Dempsey portrays Miami Metro Homicide Captain Aaron Spencer, while Gellar, 47, takes on the role of Tanya Martin, Dexter's new boss at a forensics internship. Slater, 55, rounds out the star-studded cast as Dexter's father, Harry.

The decision to cast these well-known actors from the '90s era was intentional, aiming to authentically capture the show's period setting.

Fans can catch "Dexter: Original Sin" when it premieres on Paramount+ with Showtime on Friday, December 13, followed by its on-air debut on Showtime in the U.S. on Sunday, December 15.
