The hit police procedural 'Elsbeth' is gearing up for an even more star-studded second season. CBS has announced that Emmy Award winners Laurie Metcalf and Eric McCormack will join the cast in guest roles, adding to the show's growing reputation for attracting top-tier talent.
Metcalf, known for her work on 'The Big Bang Theory', is set to appear in episode 9 as Regina Coburn. Her character is described as the star of a police procedural who, after playing a hardened detective for two decades, longs for artistic fulfillment. In an intriguing twist, Regina becomes the prime suspect in the murder of her show's showrunner.
McCormack, famous for his role in 'Will & Grace', will feature in episode 10 as Tom Murphy. He'll portray the charismatic founder of an upscale wellness retreat catering to the ultra-wealthy. Tom's character arc takes a dramatic turn when he resorts to taking matters into his own hands after a young man seeking revenge threatens his wellness empire.
These exciting additions come on the heels of the recent announcement at New York Comic Con that Michael Emerson will also join the cast, setting up an on-screen face-off with his real-life wife, Carrie Preston.
Showrunner and executive producer Jon Tolins expressed his excitement about the high-profile guest stars, stating, "Everyone on the show works hard to make our set a welcoming place where great actors come to play. Apparently, word has gotten out and we couldn't be happier."
The second season of 'Elsbeth' premiered on October 17, with Metcalf and McCormack's episodes expected to air later in the season. Fans of the show can look forward to these new character dynamics and the fresh energy these accomplished actors will bring to the series.
