The episode will feature actress Angelique Cabral, known for her role in "Life in Pieces," as Lisa, a book agent who connects with Malcolm during an event for his creative writing program. Lisa is described as an "impeccably dressed, high energy and unpredictable" character who sees potential in Malcolm's writing abilities and aims to guide him toward literary success.
This introduction comes as part of the broader setup for the planned spinoff, which will focus on the Butler brothers, Malcolm and Marty, as they relocate to Venice, California. The full spinoff storyline will unfold in a backdoor pilot scheduled to air as part of "The Neighborhood's" one-hour Season 7 finale on May 5.
The groundwork for Malcolm's departure was established in the March 31 episode, where he quit his position as assistant baseball coach at USC after being passed over for the head coach role.
