CBS's popular sitcom "The Neighborhood" is set to introduce a key character for its upcoming spinoff series in its April 14 episode, marking an important step toward the planned expansion of the show's universe.

The episode will feature actress Angelique Cabral, known for her role in "Life in Pieces," as Lisa, a book agent who connects with Malcolm during an event for his creative writing program. Lisa is described as an "impeccably dressed, high energy and unpredictable" character who sees potential in Malcolm's writing abilities and aims to guide him toward literary success.

This introduction comes as part of the broader setup for the planned spinoff, which will focus on the Butler brothers, Malcolm and Marty, as they relocate to Venice, California. The full spinoff storyline will unfold in a backdoor pilot scheduled to air as part of "The Neighborhood's" one-hour Season 7 finale on May 5.

The groundwork for Malcolm's departure was established in the March 31 episode, where he quit his position as assistant baseball coach at USC after being passed over for the head coach role. The upcoming spinoff cast will also include Justin Long, Kara Royster, and Hunter King, who will be introduced during the season finale.

If greenlit, the yet-unnamed spinoff series could secure the Monday 8:30 PM timeslot this fall, following the eighth and final season of "The Neighborhood." CBS is expected to announce its 2025-26 programming schedule on May 7, determining the fate of this potential new series.
