Pop sensation Shakira has revealed how Coldplay frontman Chris Martin provided unwavering support during her difficult separation from ex-partner Gerard Piqué in 2022.

In a recent Rolling Stone interview, the Colombian singer shared that Martin checked on her daily during the painful period. "He was there for me when I got separated and was heartbroken," Shakira said. "He was checking in every day to see how I was doing, sending me words of support and strength and wisdom."

The "Hips Don't Lie" singer, 47, praised Martin's empathetic nature, describing him as someone who "sees life through a different lens" and is deeply sensitive to others' needs.

Shakira and Piqué announced their separation in June 2022 after 11 years together. The former couple, who share sons Milan, 11, and Sasha, 9, requested privacy during their split. The breakup was particularly challenging for Shakira, who later revealed she felt "betrayed" while her father was hospitalized.

Martin, also 47, has experienced his own public separation, having gone through a "conscious uncoupling" with actress Gwyneth Paltrow in 2014. This shared experience perhaps helped him understand Shakira's situation better.

The two musicians have maintained a friendship for years, having performed together at the Global Citizen Festival in 2017 and worked together on The Voice in 2014, where Martin served as a mentor while Shakira was a coach.

In describing the aftermath of her separation, Shakira admitted it was one of the most challenging periods of her life, affecting both her and her children. Despite the difficulties, Martin's consistent support helped her navigate through the emotional turmoil.
