Steven Knight, the creative force behind the hit series 'SAS Rogue Heroes' and 'Peaky Blinders,' has revealed ambitious plans to extend the World War II drama well beyond its upcoming second season.

During a recent Q&A session, Knight shared his vision for the show's future, stating definitively that one additional season won't be enough to complete the story. "We want to take this to the end of the war, and just a bit beyond," Knight explained, suggesting multiple future seasons are in development.

The announcement comes as the series prepares to launch its second season, which has already garnered positive critical reception. The show will continue to feature returning stars Jack O'Connell, Dominic West, and Sofia Boutella, alongside Connor Swindells, whose character makes an unexpected return despite initial plans.

Knight also offered fascinating insights into the show's adaptation process, revealing that he occasionally tones down historical events to maintain believability. "The thing that really happened is so weird and so bizarre that you think the audience either wouldn't go with it, or they would lose empathy with the character," Knight explained, citing an example where a real hand grenade incident was modified to a fake one in season one's storyline.

The second season of 'SAS Rogue Heroes' is scheduled to premiere on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 9pm on New Year's Day, with the first season currently available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.

With Knight's latest revelation about the show's extended future, fans can anticipate a comprehensive portrayal of the SAS's wartime journey, promising years of compelling historical drama ahead.
