Star actress Siobhan Finneran has definitively ruled out any possibility of returning to the hit crime drama Happy Valley, declaring "We'll never do anymore. That's it."
The actress, who played recovering alcoholic Clare Cartwright alongside Sarah Lancashire in the acclaimed BBC series, shared her thoughts in a recent interview about the show's conclusion after three remarkable seasons.
"I could talk about it all day long. It was an absolute joy from start to finish," Finneran reflected. "I loved playing Clare. I loved the complete mess and beautifulness of the relationship between the two sisters. That's what most people talk to me about."
Happy Valley, which wrapped up its final season in 2023 after a seven-year break, earned widespread praise for transforming from a police procedural into a nuanced portrait of family dynamics. The series centered on Lancashire's Catherine Cawood tracking down her daughter's rapist while navigating complex family relationships.
Finneran highlighted one particularly memorable scene that captured the show's emotional depth: "There's that one scene when Clare comes home pissed. The beautiful bit of that episode is the loving, tender way Catherine puts her to bed. There's no judgement, there's no bollocking."
While fans may be disappointed by the news, Finneran remains firm that the story has reached its natural conclusion, stating "It should be left there."
The actress has since moved on to new projects, including taking the lead role as DI Liz Nyles in ITV's upcoming drama "Protection," where she plays a witness protection officer dealing with a complex investigation.
