In a recent interview with Allure magazine, "Snow White" star Rachel Zegler revealed that Ariana Grande extended her support as Zegler prepares for the highly anticipated Disney live-action film's release.
"She reached out to me — kind of apropos of nothing — and was like, 'If you need anything, I am here,'" Zegler shared. The 23-year-old actress praised Grande's character, noting, "She is so deeply kind. She has gone through so much in the public eye, and I have always really, really admired her courage in the face of all of that."
The support comes at a meaningful time for Zegler, who has faced public scrutiny and racist backlash following her casting as the first Latina Snow White. The actress also highlighted other women in Hollywood who have stood by her side, including "The Good Place" star Jameela Jamil, whom she describes as "like a big sister to me."
Zegler's "Shazam! Fury of the Gods" co-stars Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu have also been supportive figures throughout her journey. "They have been my keepers in all of this, where I feel very held by them," she expressed.
Speaking about industry dynamics, Zegler challenged the notion of competition among women in Hollywood. "All I'm ever really looking for in this business is a sister and they're not always easy to find," she said. "We're often told that other women have to be your competition and I don't subscribe to that."
The actress advocates for solidarity among performers, emphasizing the importance of "championing your friends and championing your coworkers, whether you're close with them or not."
Disney's "Snow White," starring Zegler alongside Gal Gadot, arrives in theaters on Friday, March 21.
