Actor Jon Bernthal revealed he is taking an active role in shaping the upcoming Punisher special presentation by joining as co-writer. The announcement came during his appearance at CinemaCon, where he discussed the Disney+ project slated for 2026.

Bernthal, who portrays Frank Castle/The Punisher, expressed deep personal connection to the character. "Frank is in my bones, is in my heart," the actor stated, emphasizing his commitment to delivering an authentic portrayal that resonates with military personnel, first responders, and comic book fans.

The actor disclosed that his pitch for a new version of the character was well-received by Disney+, leading to his involvement in the writing process. He has assembled a team that includes military veterans, specifically mentioning his collaboration with a veteran named Nick.

The Punisher special is expected to air after the second season of Daredevil: Born Again, where Bernthal will also appear as Frank Castle. While remaining cautious about revealing too many details, Bernthal expressed gratitude for the opportunity and praised the team being assembled for the project.

"I don't like talking about these things because it's a little bit of bark before there's a bite," Bernthal noted, maintaining a modest approach despite his expanded creative role in the production.
