After more than a decade portraying paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren, Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga marked the end of an era as filming concluded on "The Conjuring: Last Rites."

Wilson took to Instagram on Friday to share his heartfelt thoughts about the franchise's conclusion. "As the sun sets on the Conjuring franchise...I am overwhelmed," wrote the actor, expressing gratitude to both the production teams and audiences worldwide.

In a touching tribute to his on-screen wife Farmiga, Wilson noted with humor that their "fake marriage has lasted longer than many real ones." The pair has portrayed the supernatural-investigating couple since the franchise's inception in 2013.

Farmiga also shared an emotional post featuring a framed wedding photo of the real Ed and Lorraine Warren. She reflected on their remarkable 12-year journey, which began when they signed their Warner Bros. contracts approximately 5,000 days ago.

"Today, he wraps. I have another 12 hours of laughter and insanity with him," Farmiga wrote, describing how Wilson would soon shed his demonologist persona one final time. "It was a match made in heaven, PWilz. A hell of an era."

While plot details for "The Conjuring: Last Rites" remain largely secret, director Michael Chaves has confirmed the story connects to "The Nun II's" post-credits scene, involving a possessed Father Gordon.

James Wan, the franchise's creator, commemorated the moment in Wilson's comments section, suggesting the actors' portrayals would "endure forever." He playfully added, referencing Sean Connery, "Though Connery taught us to never say never!!"

"The Conjuring: Last Rites" is scheduled for theatrical release next year, marking the final chapter in the main series of this popular horror franchise.
