British comedian and actor Russell Brand has revealed he no longer resides in the United Kingdom, citing what he describes as attacks from British media, government, and judiciary following multiple sexual assault allegations against him.
According to reports from the Sunday Times of London, Brand has relocated his family to Florida. The move occurred just before the recent U.S. presidential election, around the same time the Metropolitan Police forwarded their case file containing sexual assault allegations to prosecutors.
The former BBC presenter faces serious allegations from multiple women, including accusations of rape, emotional abuse, and sexual assault of a minor. Several of these allegations stem from his time working at BBC Radio 2 and Channel 4 between 2006 and 2008.
A recent internal BBC investigation addressed eight complaints against Brand, with two occurring during his employment at the broadcaster. The BBC acknowledged systemic failures, stating they should have had better mechanisms to address Brand's "unacceptable behavior."
Brand has consistently denied all allegations, maintaining that his relationships were consensual. Speaking on the social media platform Rumble, he claimed his departure from the UK was prompted by experiencing how institutions "will find ways to attack and shut you down" when someone becomes "an inconvenience."
Since relocating to the United States, Brand has aligned himself with conservative political circles. He attended Donald Trump's inauguration and recently interviewed Donald Trump Jr. He is scheduled to receive a Global Defender of Freedom Award at an upcoming gala at Mar-a-Lago.
The impact of Brand's relocation on ongoing legal proceedings remains unclear as investigations continue.
