Actress Kristen Bell has opened up about how she and husband Dax Shepard handle onscreen romances in their 11-year marriage, revealing the couple actively supports each other's intimate scenes with co-stars.
In a recent interview with E! News, Bell, 44, shared that she and Shepard, 50, maintain a strong relationship built on "foundational trust" and open communication. "When he got to make out with Minka Kelly on Parenthood, I was like, 'Yes. Get it.' We're married, we're not dead," the Good Place actress explained.
This mutual support extends both ways. Shepard recently praised Bell's chemistry with Nobody Wants This co-star Adam Brody, even enthusiastically anticipating their kissing scene. At the New Yorker Festival, Shepard jokingly admitted that after watching what he called "the very best kissing scene ever put on film," his childhood friend asked, "Does she ever kiss you like that?"
The couple's secure approach to their relationship stems from deep trust. "Even if Dax hooks up with the most beautiful person in the world at work, I know he's committed to our family," Bell stated. "I know he's coming home. I know he loves our children. I know he strives to be a great husband and father."
Bell and Shepard, parents to daughters Lincoln, 11, and Delta, 10, acknowledge that occasional feelings of jealousy are natural. They emphasize the importance of addressing any concerns through honest dialogue. "Maybe there could be a day where I'm like, 'I'm actually really nervous that you spend time with that person.' And he could say, 'Oh, OK, let's talk about it,'" Bell explained.
The couple's refreshing perspective on marriage and attraction has been consistent throughout their relationship. As Bell expressed in a previous appearance on The View, being attracted to others doesn't diminish their commitment to each other, demonstrating a mature and realistic approach to long-term partnership.
