In a recent interview on the Jennifer Hudson Show, Kathryn Hahn, star of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) miniseries "Agatha All Along," discussed her character's nude scene in the show's premiere episode. This marks a first for the typically family-friendly franchise, with Hahn becoming the first woman to appear nude in an MCU production.
Hahn, who reprises her role as the witch Agatha Harkness from "WandaVision," explained that the nudity was her own suggestion. She felt it accurately portrayed Agatha's feral state after breaking free from a spell cast by Wanda Maximoff. "When we see Agatha at the beginning, she's completely without her powers," Hahn explained. "I think she was just feral. She wouldn't even be thinking of who she is."
The actress humorously described the practical aspects of filming the scene, mentioning the use of "a lot of double-sided tape" that made squeaking noises with every movement. Despite the challenges, Hahn believed the nudity was "deemed necessary" for the character's development.
When Hudson pointed out that Hahn was the first woman to show her backside in the MCU, the actress joked about sharing this distinction with Chris Hemsworth's Thor character. "Thor and me. Just our butts encased in gold — that's my dream," she quipped.
To commemorate this milestone, Hudson presented Hahn with a plaque recognizing her as the "First Woman To Show Butt in the Marvel Cinematic Universe." Hahn enthusiastically accepted the honor, exclaiming, "It's like I walked on the moon!"
While the MCU has traditionally maintained a family-friendly approach, "Agatha All Along" seems to be pushing boundaries by incorporating more mature themes and imagery. The show draws inspiration from various witch-related pop culture references, including "The Wizard of Oz" and music icon Stevie Nicks.
As the series continues to unfold, viewers can expect to follow Agatha on her journey down the Witches' Road as she seeks to regain her powers and sense of self.
