During a recent panel at '90s Con in Daytona Beach, actress Heather Locklear shared fascinating insights about working with her two notable Spin City costars - Michael J. Fox and Charlie Sheen.
Locklear, who played campaign manager Caitlin on the ABC sitcom from 1996 to 2003, worked alongside Fox until his departure in 2000 due to his Parkinson's diagnosis. Sheen then stepped in as Charlie Crawford until the show ended in 2002.
While praising both actors as "brilliant," Locklear highlighted their distinctly different acting styles. "One is fast talking and the other is slow," she noted, explaining how she had to adjust her own performance timing to match each costar effectively.
The actress revealed that Fox's quick-paced style contrasted sharply with Sheen's more laid-back approach, requiring her to adapt her timing for each scene partner. "Michael is a fast guy, Charlie is mmmhmmm," she explained during the panel.
Locklear also shared an amusing anecdote about working with Sheen on the 1997 film Money Talks, where he had specific requests about their kissing scene. "Make sure she doesn't touch my face when we kiss," she quoted Sheen as saying. "We're going to do an old-fashioned kiss, right? I'm not using my tongue!"
Looking back on her Spin City experience, Locklear expressed appreciation for both collaborations, though she admitted the acting adjustments were challenging. "They get to be who they are and I'd get to be... not who I am," she reflected, highlighting the versatility required in her role opposite two very different leading men.
The panel marked Locklear's first public appearance in nearly three years, where she also discussed her time on Melrose Place and her habit of keeping costumes from both shows.
