Hollywood legend Harrison Ford, who is set to appear in the upcoming "Captain America: Brave New World" at age 82, recently revealed that achieving superstardom was never part of his original career aspirations.

"No one ever believes this, but I never wanted to be rich and famous," Ford told People Magazine in a 2023 interview. "I just wanted to be an actor."

Before becoming one of cinema's most recognizable faces, Ford worked as a carpenter while pursuing acting. His early career goals were notably modest - he simply hoped to secure character roles in television shows and make a sustainable living without needing side jobs.

"I never thought that I would be a leading man," Ford explained, reflecting on his early days in the industry. His career trajectory would prove quite different, as he went on to star in blockbuster franchises including "Star Wars," "Indiana Jones," and "Bladerunner."

Despite his advanced age, Ford maintains a busy schedule. Beyond his upcoming Marvel debut, he currently appears in two television series: "1923" and Shrinking. When asked about retirement, Ford expressed his continued passion for his craft.

"I don't do well when I don't have work," he shared during an appearance on "Who's Talking to Chris Wallace." "I love to work. I love to feel useful. I want to be helpful."

This dedication to his profession remains evident in his recent project choices. Speaking to GQ about joining "Shrinking," Ford noted that the quality of writing made the opportunity irresistible. "I suppose I should be sitting on my a--," he remarked, "but I actually love working."
