Actor Adam Devine revealed that his former "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" co-star Zac Efron mysteriously disappeared after making plans to crash at Devine's beach house for two weeks.
During Wednesday's episode of "In Depth With Graham Bensinger" podcast, Devine shared the unexpected story of Efron's vanishing act. According to Devine, Efron called him "out of the blue" after not speaking for several years.
"He's on some private island somewhere," Devine recalled of the conversation. "He's like 'Hey man, I just want to let you know that I miss you.'" The call quickly turned into Efron asking to stay at Devine's beach house for a two-week period.
Devine agreed to host his former co-star and even informed his wife, actress Chloe Bridges, about the potential houseguest. "I'm like, 'Chloe, I think Zac's going to come live here for a couple weeks. I don't know,'" Devine said. His wife responded with acceptance of the arrangement.
However, after promising to call back the next day with details, Efron never followed through. "He ghosted me, dude. Never called back," Devine said. He even attempted to reach out to Efron via text message to confirm the plans but received no response.
The unexpected communication came after the "Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates" cast, including Anna Kendrick and Aubrey Plaza, had been texting about their 2016 film's recent surge in popularity.
As of now, Devine says he hasn't heard from Efron since the mysterious call, leaving him puzzled about what happened.
