Dave Coulier, beloved for his role as Joey Gladstone in "Full House," has officially won his battle against cancer. The 65-year-old actor is now cancer-free, five months after being diagnosed with stage 3 non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
The joyful news was confirmed by Coulier's representative to PEOPLE on Monday, March 31. His "Full House" co-star Candace Cameron Bure shared the celebration on Instagram, posting a selfie with Coulier and his wife, expressing overwhelming joy at the news.
Coulier's journey began when he noticed unusual symptoms - a cold and swelling in his groin area that rapidly grew to the size of a golf ball within five days. Following a biopsy, doctors diagnosed him with B-cell lymphoma, an aggressive form of the disease.
The actor underwent three surgeries and endured six rounds of chemotherapy. During his final treatment, the side effects were particularly challenging. "There was so much cancer-related fatigue that got progressively worse," Coulier shared with Parade magazine. "I couldn't get out of bed."
Throughout his treatment, Coulier maintained his characteristic humor, often sharing laughs with longtime friend and co-star John Stamos during FaceTime calls. Stamos praised Coulier's resilience, noting how his friend "fought like hell with strength and heart."
The actor's wife, Melissa, stood by his side throughout the ordeal. After an anxious week of waiting for recent biopsy results, the couple received the news they had hoped for - zero signs of cancer.
Looking ahead, Coulier plans to become an ambassador for both the V Foundation for Cancer Research and Hockey Fights Cancer. He aims to encourage others to pursue early medical screenings, emphasizing the importance of preventive care.
"Today is the first day that I really feel like myself," Coulier told Parade, marking a triumphant end to his challenging battle against non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
