Paramount+ has decided not to renew the "Frasier" revival for a third season, marking an early end to Kelsey Grammer's return as the beloved psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane.

CBS Studios, the show's producer, is actively seeking a new home for the series, with streaming platforms Prime Video and Hulu emerging as potential candidates, given they already host the original "Frasier" series.

The revival, which premiered in October 2023, transported Frasier back to Boston, featuring a fresh cast including Jack Cutmore-Scott as his son Freddy, Nicholas Lyndhurst as his college friend Alan, and Toks Olagundoye as psychology department head Olivia.

While the show brought back several familiar faces through guest appearances, including Bebe Neuwirth as Lilith and Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle, it struggled to capture the same magic that made the original series a hit. The original "Frasier," which ran from 1993 to 2004, collected 37 Primetime Emmy Awards during its run.

Before the cancellation, Grammer had expressed ambitious plans for the revival, hoping for "another 100 episodes at least." The actor believed the new characters had established strong foundations for future storylines.

The series will remain available on Paramount+, where it stands as one of only two original comedy series on the platform, alongside "Colin From Accounts." CBS Studios maintains its commitment to the show's future, though a move to CBS appears unlikely due to the network's already full comedy lineup.

Industry observers note the revival's struggle to find its footing on Paramount+, a platform primarily known for drama series and the Taylor Sheridan and Star Trek franchises. The show's first season received three Emmy nominations but failed to secure any wins.
