Former "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" co-stars Courtney Ford and Brandon Routh have broken their silence about their separation, amid dramatic circumstances as wildfires rage through Los Angeles County.

Just one day after Ford filed for divorce on January 9, the couple released a joint statement on social media addressing the end of their 21-year relationship, which included 17 years of marriage.

"After 21 years together, and 17 years of marriage, we have decided to begin a new journey, and enter this next chapter of life as friends and co-parents," the pair stated. They emphasized their continued support for each other and their commitment to prioritizing their 12-year-old son Leo's wellbeing.

The announcement came during a particularly challenging time, as the couple was forced to evacuate their home due to the spreading Los Angeles wildfires. Ford addressed the timing in her social media post, explaining they were "focused on grabbing our go-bags and evacuating" when news of their divorce broke through an online publication.

According to court documents, Ford cited "irreconcilable differences" as grounds for divorce. She has requested joint legal and physical custody of their son, along with spousal support from Routh, known for his role in "Superman Returns."

The couple, who met and began dating in 2003, married in Santa Barbara in November 2007. They later shared the screen in "DC's Legends of Tomorrow" for three seasons until 2020, where their on-screen chemistry drew praise from fans and critics alike.

Despite the end of their marriage, both actors expressed gratitude and mutual respect in their statement, signing off with "With love and gratitude, B&C," while also showing concern for their community affected by the ongoing wildfires.
