Apple TV+ has announced a groundbreaking new music competition series titled "KPOPPED," featuring Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion and K-Pop sensation Psy. The eight-episode series will be filmed in Seoul, South Korea, bringing together Western artists and K-Pop stars in unique musical collaborations.
The show's format will feature Western performers reimagining their hit songs through collaborations with prominent K-Pop idols. Each episode will culminate in spectacular battle performances, with a live Seoul audience determining the best "K-Popped" rendition.
Music industry legend Lionel Richie joins as executive producer alongside CJ ENM's Miky Lee. The series is being produced through a partnership between Korean entertainment powerhouse CJ ENM and Eureka Productions.
This marks Apple TV+'s second venture into K-Pop programming, following their August release of the documentary series "K-Pop Idols," which offered an intimate look at groups like Blackswan, Cravity, and soloist Jessi.
The production team includes accomplished industry professionals Moira Ross, Greg Foster, Harry H.K. Shin, and Jake Hong as executive producers. Kiwoong Kim will serve as producer for CJ ENM, while Chris Culvenor, Paul Franklin, Wes Dening, David Tibballs, and Bruce Eskowitz round out the executive production team.
While the premiere date remains unannounced, "KPOPPED" promises to deliver a fresh take on musical collaboration by bridging Western and K-Pop musical styles in an innovative competition format.
