Comedy legend Will Ferrell recently shared some hilarious memories from his pre-fame days working as a bank teller, admitting he was "such a bad" employee that a customer once complained about him to management.

In an exclusive interview with Willie Geist for Sunday TODAY, the 56-year-old actor revealed his intense anxiety about the position, telling his mother he would "rather do standup comedy on The Tonight Show naked than go to work" on his first day.

The Saturday Night Live alum's nervousness led to some notable mishaps. On day one, Ferrell would close his window between each customer transaction, serving approximately one person every 15 minutes. The day ended with him being $300 short in his drawer, though management brushed it off when another teller was coincidentally $300 over.

His second day proved equally challenging, with an oddly specific discrepancy of $258.37 that left both him and his manager puzzled. "I don't know. I'm very nervous," Ferrell recalled telling his supervisor.

The actor's banking career reached its low point when a regular Thursday customer became so frustrated with his service that he demanded to speak with management. "This is your worst teller. He's awful. He's sweaty and weird," the customer declared. While Ferrell's manager defended him, the actor couldn't help but agree with the customer's assessment.

Looking back at these experiences, Ferrell now views them as "character-building moments" that preceded his successful career in entertainment. The full interview will air on NBC's Sunday TODAY with Willie Geist at 8 a.m. ET.
