Actor Sam Jaeger revealed his hesitation about reviving the beloved NBC series Parenthood, citing concerns about preserving the show's legacy. Speaking exclusively at the PaleyFest LA 2025 event, the 48-year-old actor who played Joel Graham shared his conflicted thoughts about returning to the family drama that ran from 2010 to 2015.

"Sometimes these shows, when they come back you almost wish that they just stayed where they were," Jaeger told PEOPLE. "I want to protect what's there." However, he acknowledged that parenting has evolved considerably since the show ended, which could provide interesting new storytelling opportunities.

While protective of the original series' reputation, Jaeger admitted the prospect of reuniting with castmates Lauren Graham, Mae Whitman, Dax Shepard, and Peter Krause holds strong appeal. "Parenthood had so many fantastic, funny people that to go back and spend time with them? Yeah, I think I'd do that," he reflected.

The discussion of a potential revival has gained momentum recently, with former co-stars Dax Shepard and Lauren Graham exploring the idea on Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast. Graham suggested a limited format similar to her Gilmore Girls revival, possibly as a holiday special or movie. Shepard expressed interest in a shorter 8-10 episode run, mainly to reconnect with the cast.

While the future of a Parenthood reboot remains uncertain, Jaeger's careful consideration reflects the cast's dedication to honoring the show's original spirit. Until any revival materializes, fans can stream the original series on Hulu.
