Hollywood power couple Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith continue to maintain their unique relationship arrangement, according to sources close to the pair. While living in separate homes for several years, the couple remains connected in their own distinctive way.
"Call it what you want. They are living their own lives but haven't completely severed ties," an insider revealed to PEOPLE. The source confirmed that Will, 56, and Jada, 53, who married in 1997, "are still together" despite maintaining separate residences since their 2016 separation.
The arrangement became public knowledge when Jada opened up about their relationship during the promotion of her memoir "Worthy" in 2023. "We're still figuring it out," she shared at the time. "We've been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other."
Currently, Will remains active in entertainment, focusing on both film and music projects. He recently collaborated with Big Sean on a Matrix-inspired music video for their track "Beautiful Scars." Sources note that while Will appears "a bit disillusioned with Hollywood," he continues to pursue creative endeavors.
The couple's commitment to family remains strong. They share two children, Jaden, 26, and Willow, 24, while Will also has a 32-year-old son, Trey, from his previous marriage. The entire family, including Jada's mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, was spotted together at the May 2024 premiere of "Bad Boys: Ride or Die."
Their unconventional approach to marriage has been well-documented. In his 2021 memoir, Will wrote about their relationship philosophy: "We have given each other trust and freedom, with the belief that everybody has to find their own way."
Despite their separate living arrangements, the couple continues to celebrate major occasions together. Sources confirm they spent Thanksgiving 2024 surrounded by family and friends, with everyone "in wonderful and very grateful spirits."
