Fashion designer and 'Project Runway' Season 18 contestant Sha'Vi Lewis has passed away at age 39, according to fellow cast member Brittany Allen who shared the news on February 25, 2025.
Lewis, known for his luxury women's wear designs specializing in cocktail and evening attire, made his mark on the fashion industry by championing inclusivity and quality designs for plus-size women. He founded his fashion brand in 2002 and went on to dress notable celebrities including Diva Davanna Booker and 'Real Housewives of Atlanta' star Cynthia Bailey.
During his time on 'Project Runway' in 2020, Lewis was vocal about his vision for the fashion industry, particularly advocating for better quality fabrics and construction in plus-size garments. "Bodies are bodies and it's all about proportion. The designer offerings shouldn't change just because of size," he told The Curvy Fashionista in an interview.
Prior to his passing, Lewis had been celebrating the show's recent addition to Netflix, which promised to introduce his work to a broader audience. His final Instagram post marked his birthday celebration just 11 weeks ago.
Details surrounding the cause of death have not been released at this time.
The news comes as 'Project Runway' prepares for its return to television on Freeform, with original host Heidi Klum set to resume her role.
