Michelle Williams has confirmed she remains in close contact with her former "Dawson's Creek" costar James Van Der Beek following his recent cancer diagnosis.
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Williams, 44, expressed her unwavering support for Van Der Beek, who revealed his stage 3 colorectal cancer diagnosis in November 2024. "We're in contact, and he's in our hearts and our minds, and he knows that," Williams said. "And we're here for him in every and all ways."
The actors starred together on the hit teen drama "Dawson's Creek" from 1998 to 2003, alongside Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson. While the cast members went their separate ways after the show ended, Van Der Beek recently shared that he has reconnected with many of his former costars during this challenging time.
Van Der Beek, 47, has been open about his cancer journey, which began in August. The actor admitted he initially struggled with sharing his diagnosis, particularly with his family. "I'm an empath. I like to take care of everybody," he told PEOPLE. "I'm a provider, and especially at that point, I was trying to be Superman."
The support from friends and family has deeply touched Van Der Beek. "The way friends showed up was such a beautiful experience — and I would never have otherwise seen how much people care about me," he shared.
Van Der Beek continues his treatment while maintaining his role as a husband to wife Kimberley and father to their six children. The actor has been transparent about facing his mortality and how his diagnosis has impacted his identity as a family man.
