A piece of cinematic history is heading to auction this weekend, as the original hoverboard from Back To The Future II will be sold to benefit Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.

The iconic pink hoverboard, expected to fetch at least $100,000, has been in the possession of Charlie Croughwell, Fox's longtime stunt double, since filming wrapped in 1989. Croughwell worked alongside Fox for 16 years across multiple films.

The screen-used prop comes complete with two harnesses and features signatures from several key figures, including Fox himself, who inscribed "Charlie – you are a legend, Love, Mike." The item has been authenticated as the only solid board used by both Fox and Croughwell during the film's flying sequences.

Half of the proceeds from the sale will support the Michael J. Fox Foundation, with the remainder being divided among Croughwell's three children, who have followed in their father's footsteps as stunt performers.

"[Michael's] come down with this disease, and instead of just rolling over and accepting it, he decided to start a Parkinson's research foundation that is doing everything they can to find a cure," Croughwell told Metro ahead of the Heritage Auctions' Hollywood & Entertainment auction.

The hoverboard represents not just movie memorabilia, but a testament to the enduring 40-year friendship between Fox and Croughwell. The stunt veteran recalls the technical challenges of creating realistic hovering effects using piano wire in an era before CGI, making the prop particularly special.

"I've been blessed. I've had a great career, I have great family, I have everything that I need," Croughwell reflected. "It's important that I do something that helps others."

The auction is scheduled for Saturday through Heritage Auctions, offering collectors and fans a rare opportunity to own a genuine piece of film history while supporting Parkinson's research.
