Mads Mikkelsen Reveals Idris Elba as His Choice for James Bond
Former James Bond villain actor Mads Mikkelsen has shared his thoughts on who should take up the iconic role of 007, naming Idris Elba tackles UK knife crime as his preferred choice for the next James Bond.
In a recent interview with Dextero, Mikkelsen, who portrayed Le Chiffre opposite Daniel Craig in "Casino Royale," praised Elba's acting abilities. "I think that Idris Elba was talked about for a while. I think he's an amazing actor," Mikkelsen stated.
However, Mikkelsen acknowledged potential age-related challenges with this casting choice, noting that Elba is close to Daniel Craig's age. This observation aligns with previous statements from franchise producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson, who are seeking an actor willing to commit to the role for 10-12 years.
At 52, Elba himself has shown limited interest in the role, stating on The Shop podcast that playing Bond "is not a goal for my career." The actor has, however, expressed appreciation for being considered, viewing it as a positive sign for diversity in Hollywood casting.
The search for the next 007 continues, with younger actors like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, 34, and Paul Mescal emerging as potential candidates. While no official announcement has been made regarding Bond 26, the franchise's producers appear to be focusing on younger talent for the role's future.
The last James Bond film, "No Time To Die," marked Daniel Craig's final appearance as the British spy in 2021, and fans eagerly await news about who will next don the famous tuxedo.
