Pop superstar Lady Gaga is set to appear in the highly anticipated second season of Netflix's hit series "Wednesday," Entertainment Weekly reports. The Grammy and Oscar-winning artist is currently filming her undisclosed role in Europe alongside lead actress Jenna Ortega.
The casting announcement follows an unexpected connection between Gaga and the show that emerged in 2022. After the release of season one, fans created viral social media edits featuring Ortega's now-iconic dance scene set to Gaga's 2011 track "Bloody Mary" - despite the song not actually appearing in the series.
The viral trend led to a remarkable resurgence for "Bloody Mary," with the track experiencing a 415% increase in streams. The song eventually reached #10 on Billboard's pop radio chart and #41 on the Hot 100, an impressive feat 12 years after its initial release.
Ortega, who plays Wednesday Addams and serves as a producer for season two, previously expressed enthusiasm about potentially working with Gaga. At the 2023 Golden Globes, she suggested their characters would need to be "two monsters that understand each other."
The Emmy-winning series will welcome back several familiar faces, including Catherine Zeta-Jones, Isaac Ordonez, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo, and Luis Guzman. This marks Gaga's return to television following her recent role in "Joker: Folie à Deux."
While details about Gaga's character remain under wraps, fans can expect to see the new season when "Wednesday" returns to Netflix in 2025.
