Ben Stiller Says Fans Regularly Confuse Him with Adam Sandler
Actor Ben Stiller revealed that he frequently gets mistaken for his longtime friend Adam Sandler, with fans even approaching him to discuss Sandler's 2006 film "Click."
During a recent appearance on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," Stiller shared amusing stories about the ongoing mix-up between the two comedy stars, who have been friends for three decades.
"People always will yell out to me or to him," Stiller told Fallon. "He'll text me and say, like, 'I was in Italy and someone said, 'Ben Stiller, I love you!'" The confusion works both ways, with fans regularly approaching Stiller to express how "Click changed my life."
When Stiller attempts to correct the mistake by saying "No, I'm not Adam Sandler. I'm Ben Stiller," he's often met with a puzzled "Who?"
The mix-up between the two 58-year-old actors may stem from their frequent collaborations over the years. They've shared the screen in several films, including "The Meyerowitz Stories" (2017), where they played brothers, and "Happy Gilmore" (1996), which featured Stiller in a memorable role.
The case of mistaken identity is likely to continue as both actors are set to reunite in Happy Gilmore 2. Netflix announced the sequel in May, with Stiller reprising his role as Hal L., the nursing home orderly, alongside Sandler's titular character.
In a 2017 "Good Morning America" interview, Sandler expressed his fondness for working with Stiller, saying, "We loved seeing each other every day... It was an amazing, brotherly feeling."
