Saoirse-Monica Jackson, known for her role as Erin Quinn in the hit series "Derry Girls," is set to make her New York stage debut in the upcoming play "Irishtown" at the Irish Repertory Theatre's Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage.

The world premiere production, written by Ciara Elizabeth Smyth and directed by Nicola Murphy Dubey, will begin previews on April 2, with opening night scheduled for April 13. The limited Off-Broadway run will continue through May 25.

Jackson joins an accomplished cast including Emmy nominee Kate Burton ("Grey's Anatomy"), Kevin Oliver Lynch, Brenda Meaney, and Angela Reed, with Roger Clark providing voiceover work.

"Irishtown" tells the story of a Dublin theater company that faces creative challenges during rehearsals when they discover their new play lacks authentic Irish elements and has become overly experimental. The company then takes action to reconnect the work with its Irish heritage.

The production marks a natural progression for Jackson, who previously appeared in the West End production of "The Ferryman" by Jez Butterworth. Her screen credits include roles in "Finding You," "The Flash," "Upgraded," and Netflix's "The Decameron."

The play, which was initially presented during Irish Rep's New Works Summer Festival in 2023, has undergone further development through a workshop in Summer 2024. The creative team includes Colm McNally handling set and lighting design, Orla Long for costumes, Caroline Eng managing sound design, Nicole Rozanski overseeing properties, and casting by Katja Zarolinski.
