In a delightful reunion on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, comedy powerhouses Amy Poehler and Tina Fey reflected on their enduring friendship and shared history at Saturday Night Live, with Poehler making a candid comparison about their professional relationship.
During the interview, Poehler humorously described herself as "Tina's second wife" when discussing their roles on SNL's "Weekend Update" segment. The comparison stems from Poehler taking over the "Weekend Update" co-anchor position after Fallon, who had previously hosted alongside Fey.
"We've been friends for over 30 years and we've been together doing stuff a lot," Poehler shared, before adding with characteristic wit, "But I'm kind of like Tina's second wife because you guys did it first and I came in and I got all the second wife goodness."
The comedic duo's chemistry was on full display during the show as they interrupted Fallon's monologue and participated in an impromptu "Tonight Show Joke Off" alongside Seth Meyers. Their natural rapport and quick wit demonstrated why they've remained one of comedy's most beloved partnerships.
Looking ahead, Fey and Poehler are set to continue their successful collaboration with their Restless Leg comedy tour, kicking off March 29 in Florida. The tour will take them across multiple cities, including Detroit, Phoenix, and Las Vegas, before concluding with shows in New Jersey.
The pair will also feature in the upcoming SNL50: The Anniversary Special, celebrating Saturday Night Live's 50-year legacy alongside an impressive roster of fellow alumni and special guests.
