In a surprising revelation about the finale of Cobra Kai's sixth season, the show's creators disclosed that John Kreese's fate could have taken a dramatically different turn. While viewers witnessed Kreese's apparent death in a massive yacht explosion, an alternate ending was actually filmed showing his survival.

Show creators Hayden Schlossberg, Josh Heald, and Jon Hurwitz recently shared details about this unused ending in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. The team shot a complete scene depicting Kreese somehow escaping the explosive blast, though they ultimately decided not to include it in the final cut.

"We didn't see the bodies! It's a very wide shot," Schlossberg noted, hinting at the deliberate ambiguity of the scene. He referenced how Kreese had previously been presumed dead only to resurface later in the series.

However, fellow creators Heald and Hurwitz leaned toward a more definitive end for the character. They pointed to the severity of the explosion and its casualties, noting that approximately 30 yacht staff members were involved in the gasoline-fueled blast.

The existence of this alternate ending suggests the creative team wanted to keep their options open for potential future storylines, even as the main series concluded its run. This revelation has sparked speculation about possible appearances of Kreese in future spinoff projects within the Cobra Kai universe.

The sixth and final season of Cobra Kai is currently streaming on Netflix.
