Award-winning stage and screen icon Patti LuPone is set to join the cast of HBO Max's "Sex and the City" revival series "And Just Like That" for its third season, executive producer Michael Patrick King announced.

While specific details about LuPone's character remain under wraps, King confirmed the celebrated performer will have a recurring arc in the upcoming season. The casting news adds another layer of star power to the series that continues to follow the lives of beloved characters Carrie Bradshaw and Miranda Hobbes.

The show is also welcoming comedian Kristen Schaal in a new role, while Rosemarie DeWitt will return as Aidan's ex-wife. Television personality Rosie O'Donnell is also joining the cast as a character named Mary.

However, fans will notice some familiar faces missing from the upcoming season. Karen Pittman and Sara Ramírez will not return due to scheduling conflicts. Additionally, Kim Cattrall, who portrayed fan-favorite Samantha Jones in the original series, recently dismissed rumors about her potential return to the show.

The third season promises to explore fresh narratives surrounding the main characters, as the series continues to evolve the storylines that began with the original "Sex and the City."

Executive producer King's strategic casting choices and narrative direction suggest an exciting new chapter for the series, blending Broadway talent with the show's established Manhattan glamour.
