Pamela Hayden, the talented voice actor behind beloved characters like Milhouse Van Houten and Jimbo Jones on "The Simpsons," has announced her retirement after an impressive 35-year run on the iconic animated series.

Hayden's final appearance will be in the upcoming episode "Treehouse of Horror Presents: Simpsons Wicked This Way Comes," scheduled to air on November 24. Throughout her tenure on the show, which began with its first episode in 1989, Hayden has been credited in nearly 700 episodes.

Beyond voicing Bart Simpson's blue-haired best friend Milhouse, Hayden brought life to numerous other Springfield residents, including school bully Jimbo Jones, Rod Flanders, Sarah Wiggum, and Lisa's friend Janey Powell. The character of Milhouse first appeared in a Butterfinger commercial in 1989 before becoming a series regular.

"The time has come for me to hang up my microphone," Hayden said in her retirement announcement. "It's been an honor and a joy to have worked on such a funny, witty, and groundbreaking show."

The show's creative team expressed their appreciation for Hayden's contributions. "Pamela's talent and joy and love for her characters has added a magic to The Simpsons that will never be forgotten," said showrunner Matt Selman. Creator Matt Groening praised her ability to make "Milhouse hilarious and real."

In a farewell video featuring classic Milhouse moments, Hayden reflected on the character's enduring appeal: "People are always saying what a nerd he is. But one thing that I love about Milhouse is he's always getting knocked down, but he keeps getting up. I love the little guy."

Fox will begin casting for Hayden's characters as "The Simpsons" continues its remarkable run in its 36th season.
