Hudson Joseph Meek, the 16-year-old actor known for his role as Young Baby in the Oscar-nominated film "Baby Driver," died on December 21, 2023, following a tragic accident in Vestavia Hills, Alabama.
According to the Chief Deputy Coroner Bill Yates, Meek sustained fatal blunt force injuries after falling from a moving vehicle on December 19. The Vestavia Hills Police Department is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The young actor, who played the younger version of Ansel Elgort's character in the 2017 hit film "Baby Driver," had built an impressive career in entertainment. His work included guest appearances on television shows like "MacGyver," "Found," and "Legacies." He also did voice-over work for major brands including Toys R Us, McDonald's, and the video game "League of Legends."
Beyond his acting career, Meek was an active sophomore at Vestavia Hills High School, where he participated in football, Honor Choir, and student government. His adventurous spirit led him to become an advanced open water scuba diver at age 14, and he had visited all 50 US states.
"Hudson's personality was one of a kind," his family stated in his obituary. "He was confident, convicted in his beliefs, spontaneous, and quick-witted."
A Celebration of Life service is scheduled for December 28 at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church in Homewood, Alabama. The family has established the Hudson J. Meek Memorial Scholarship at Vestavia Hills High School in his memory.
Meek is survived by his parents, brother, grandmothers, and extended family. Several of his unreleased projects are expected to be released in 2025.
