Veteran actor Tom Selleck is looking ahead to new horizons as the long-running series Blue Bloods comes to an end, expressing particular interest in working with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan on a Western project.

The 79-year-old star, who played Frank Reagan for 14 seasons on Blue Bloods, recently shared his post-show aspirations in an interview with Parade. While acknowledging that he's not being flooded with offers, Selleck made it clear that retirement isn't in his plans.

"A good Western's always on my list," Selleck remarked. "I miss that; I want to sit on a horse again." The actor specifically mentioned his interest in collaborating with Sheridan, who recently worked with Sam Elliott on the series 1883.

Speaking of Elliott, Selleck expressed enthusiasm about potentially working alongside his old friend. "Sam was great in [1883], Sam's always great. We go way, way back. I love him dearly. I'd love to work with Sam," he shared.

As Blue Bloods concludes its 15-year run following CBS's cancellation announcement in November 2023, Selleck admits adjusting to life without the show will take time. "The hardest part for me is we had the Blue Bloods family and we had the actors' family. They're all my pals. I miss them," he reflected.

While discussing other potential projects, Selleck didn't rule out returning to his role as Jesse Stone, though he noted the character would need to reflect the passage of time. "It would be an interesting challenge because Jesse is older now," he explained.

Looking back on his career, Selleck remains grateful for his experiences. "I've had a very good life, a very lucky life," he told PEOPLE, maintaining an optimistic outlook for whatever comes next in his professional journey.
