In a heartfelt tribute, Ian McShane expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his John Wick costar Lance Reddick. Speaking at a 10th-anniversary screening of the first John Wick film in Los Angeles, McShane shared his fondest memories of working with Reddick.
"I will miss him dreadfully," McShane said, reflecting on their time together on set. The veteran actor, who plays Winston in the franchise, reminisced about the strong on-screen chemistry he shared with Reddick, who portrayed Charon, the concierge of The Continental Hotel.
McShane highlighted their performances together, stating, "We made a really good double act." He emphasized that their unique relationship in the films was distinct from the one shared with Keanu Reeves' character, John Wick.
Fans of the franchise will have one last opportunity to see Reddick in his iconic role as Charon in the upcoming spinoff film, Ballerina. Set between the events of the third and fourth John Wick movies, Ballerina stars Ana de Armas and will feature both McShane and Reddick reprising their roles.
"We have Ballerina coming out, in which he'll be seen for the last time," McShane noted, adding a bittersweet tone to the announcement.
Reddick, who passed away in March 2023 at the age of 60, was a beloved figure in the entertainment industry. Known for his work on television series such as The Wire, Fringe, and Bosch, as well as his performances in all four John Wick films, Reddick left an indelible mark on his colleagues and fans alike.
As the John Wick franchise continues to expand with Ballerina, set to release on June 6, 2025, McShane's tribute serves as a poignant reminder of Reddick's lasting impact on the series and his fellow cast members.
