Actor Hugo Weaving has confirmed his return as Frank Harkness in the upcoming fifth season of "Slow Horses," with filming set to begin in London this January for a two-and-a-half month schedule.
Speaking at the International Film Festival of India in Goa, Weaving shared insights about the show's adaptation process. "Each season generally is a book, but also each season departs a little bit from those books," he noted, adding that the series is now catching up to author Mick Herron's published works.
The veteran actor also offered updates on the long-awaited sequel to the 1994 cult classic "The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert." Weaving revealed ongoing script development, having reviewed five drafts so far. "It's slowly getting closer to perhaps happening next year. Still lots of things to finalize, but it's looking promising," he said.
While audiences worldwide recognize Weaving from "The Matrix" franchise, his role as cricket captain Douglas Jardine in the 1984 series "Bodyline" remains particularly memorable in India. "He's probably one of the greatest villains in world sporting history," Weaving joked about his portrayal.
At the festival, Weaving presented his latest project, "The Rooster," an Australian thriller directed by Mark Leonard Winter. In the film, he portrays a hermit potentially holding secrets about a discovered buried body. Winter specifically wrote the role for Weaving, noting that having the actor attached "legitimized our project."
The actor expressed enthusiasm about potential collaborations with Indian filmmakers, revealing ongoing discussions with director Anand Gandhi. Meanwhile, Winter announced he has completed a first draft of a vampire film as his next directorial venture.
