Award-winning actress Zoe Saldaña delivers powerhouse recently addressed the ongoing challenge faced by performers who work extensively with CGI and visual effects, noting they are often disregarded during awards season despite their dedicated performances.

In a candid interview with the Independent, Saldaña expressed her frustration about the apparent bias against CGI-heavy performances in the film industry. "When you give 120 percent of yourself into something... not winning is OK, not being nominated is OK, but when you're overlooked and then minimized and completely disregarded..." the actress stated, reflecting on her experiences.

Saldaña, known for her remarkable performances in blockbuster franchises like Avatar, Star Trek, and Guardians of the Galaxy, has frequently encountered skepticism about the authenticity of her CGI-enhanced roles. She recalled instances where critics claimed her Avatar performance was solely the work of technicians, to which she firmly responded, "I know the difference between that and what we did."

The discussion particularly highlighted Avatar, where Saldaña's portrayal of Neytiri - complete with blue skin and distinctive features - went unrecognized by the Academy, despite director James Cameron's campaign for her nomination. While the film secured three Oscar wins for cinematography, visual effects, and art direction, it received no acting nominations.

Despite these challenges, Saldaña maintains a positive outlook on her career choices. She emphasizes that her dedication to acting transcends award recognition, posing the thoughtful question: "Is it so others can give me approval? Or is it because I don't want to do anything else?"

This conversation opens up broader questions about how traditional award institutions adapt to evolving filmmaking technologies and whether they fully recognize the artistic merit of performances enhanced by visual effects.
