A Video Primer from Admin Kate
You can find most of my videos in flash format to view without any special codecs in our video channels. The videos loaded directly to MAGNIFY are clean, crisp and world’s better in quality than what you find on those tube sites. You will find some other videos in the channels that I have pulled from other places online and ones I have loaded to other sites which can handle larger files than the Magnify loader. My favorite alternate hosting site for online video viewing is Megavideo for FLASH under 500MB.
You will find a variety of HQ videos on this site- they have all been encoded using the DIVX codec. I was a big user on Stage6 and had my full library loaded there before they closed. As I find fun news items to share I am encoding the videos and loading them to the new DIVXVINE site which allows you to host up to 300 MB video items for embedding, direct viewing and downloading as a registered user. They have some paid options as well. If you have Stage6 video like movie trailers you have been looking to host- this is where to do it!
To view the DIVX videos you will need to install a few tools. First download the latest DIVX codec and webplayer from DIVX.com. If you want to rip DIVX videos make sure you install Dr. Divxx as well- you can find the link on the DIVX site.
Secondly- once you will want to view your video. To view inside the viewer just press the play video button which is the arrow head. For longer video I recommend pressing play then pressing pause to allow the video to buffer completely so you can view it without interruption.
I have loaded this short promo for Tom Welling and Erica Durance on the cover of TV Guide from last summer as an example:
Once you have buffered the video, you can watch it by pressing the rectangle box with the shadow box behind it on the lower right of the toolbar and this will pop the video out of your viewing page.
Alternately if you press the box with the four corners bracketed this will allow you to view full screen.
Want to download the video? Click to view the video full screen then right click on the video once it has played or completely loaded and you will get the option to Save Video. Click on this and you can save it right to your PC! You will need to name the video when you save it but that is it. No fancy software required- just load, view then save.
Since files are DIVX Avi they can be burned to a DIVX DVD to play in any DIVX enabled DVD player or you burn them out with most video software to play are regular DVDs as well. You can even use my other favorite tool the Videora converter to convert the videos to iPod format to view on the go.
Have fun experiencing video on a higher level with HQ DIVX video.
