This week is the season finale for Burn Notice- here is an interview last week with Jeffrey talking about the show.
Some familiar faces will be in the season finale for Burn Notice- John Mahoney is back and Michael has a Terminator on his tail.
Bruce is getting excited about getting ready for season 4 which is about to go into production in Miami
Reporting by Kate Blake- Admin Multipleverses
Today Multipleverses was privileged to be able to listen in on a conference call with Jeffrey Donovan and Gabrielle Anwar from Burn Notice.
Some key talking points from the call:
Cute thing- Jeffrey calls Gabrielle “G” throughout the call as his shorthand name for her.
Most memorable experience with meeting fans- both like that Burn Notice is such a date night show with men and women enjoying it together.
Spoilers from the last couple of episodes and in the future
Gabrielle is the one working with Carlos Bernard this week- Jeffrey does not interact with him.
The big season finale will have Michael leaving Miami in a huge cliff hanger.
Tim Matheson will be back as Larry continuing to be a pain in Michael’s side and he will be directing the season 4 premiere.
Season 4 will be remarkable- the next 8 to 9 episode arc will include a new character who is a young operative who will play a significant role on the show and a new management regime will play a big role in Michael’s life- and Fiona will blow stuff up.
Will we ever see any flashback episodes to show how the characters initially met or explore some back story? That is a story device that Burn Notice is not a fan of.
Insights from the stars
Jeffrey thinks Michael is a very complicated person- probably a border line personality.
Jeffrey loved the voice over from the pilot describing life as a spy from his very first reading.
Gabrielle loves her part and could not believe how much creator Matt Nix understands women.
Gabrielle talks about how Fiona and Maddie have a complex relationship on camera thanks to their joint love of Michael.
Jeffrey would like to see a Burn Notice White Collar cross-over as both shows have a similar tone.
Jeffrey’s favorite persona that he has played on the show is Michael McBride the man that Fiona fell in love with- everyone sigh!
What would Fiona’s ideal life look like with Michael settling down? She wants to feel secure but what that means is not clear.
90 percent of what you see as far as action on screen with Jeffrey is him thanks to his years of karate and boxing.
Jeffrey golfs to relax- he likes to walk on and spend some time on the course- he has a single digit handicap around a 7.
Gabrielle does not have any time to herself juggling her life as a mum and actress- spending time in the hotel room in New York today is about as much time to herself as she gets.
Jeffrey says getting older is a challenge versus what things were like when they started on the show. Gabrielle is afraid that she has some anxiety before starting shooting again after hiatus – she likes to make sure that her level of Fiona insanity is up to par.
Regarding their chemistry- Jeffrey, Bruce , Sharon and Gabrielle all get along great on and off screen hanging out together when they have time off while shooting and enjoying each others company.
What is the most dangerous stunt you two have done? Gabrielle has hurt Jeffrey when the two of them fight because she is not the expert.
TV relationships are built on tension – Michael and Fiona have an atypical relationship in that they have already been together, apart, the tension is not about the hooking up but how they display their love for each other each week.
Michael’s relationship with his mother has softened this season- was this something organic or planned? The writers have really developed this starting from the get go- this is the natural evolution of their relationship.
What scene was really memorable to you? Jeffrey mentioned the slap scene from the episode where they were undercover and he had to do something on the fly.
What is Life Rolls On? This is a charitable organization to raise money for disabled young athletes. Jeffrey has worked with this group to research to see what we need to do to help kids live better lives with disabilities.
Would you like to be immortalized as action figures? Jeffrey can’t believe there are Dexter action figures. Jeffrey would love to see Michael and Fiona action figures that he could blow up at home.
Jeffrey will never return to Chicago in the winter to do theater- too darn cold!
Both stars are busy with Burn Notice right now – Gabrielle has two movies ready to come out soon- movies that she shot 3 years ago.
Jeffrey is teaching acting seminars with casting director Ellen Jacoby in Miami- mainly to increase the talent level that they can draw on locally.
Most memorable episode to shoot- Gabrielle had to shoot every day during the filming of tonight’s episode with Carlos Bernard. Jeffrey says the pilot was his most memorable since it was so new and unknown.
Watch an all new episode of Burn Notice tonight on USA!
New episode tonight on USA! Only one more and then the season finale- so tune in.
