Charisma Carpenter and Corin Nemec star in the SyFy movie of the week House of Bones TV Spot and preview

Monday, January 11th, 2010

Buffy and Angel alum Charisma Carpenter stars along with Stargate SG-1 alum Corin Nemec in the SyFy movie of the week.

From Bullet Films- here is the official film description:

Directed By: Jeffery Lando

Starring: Charisma Carpenter Marcus Brown Collin Galyean Ricky Wayne A cheesy reality television show about haunted houses is being filmed at an old plantation home.  Although the producers initially deny claims from their psychic special guest Heather (Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer’s Charisma Carpenter) that this house is actually haunted, a series of mysterious events suggests otherwise.  Missing persons, inexplicable sightings of ghosts, and the deaths of the crew not only prove that this house is haunted, but seems to be alive.  When pompous show host Quentin (Corin Nemec of Stargate SG-1) arrives to the house, he is warned of the happenings and attempts to save his colleagues.  Trapped inside by the house itself, the remaining producers and crew must learn of the house’s gruesome past in order to defeat the evil forces and escape the house alive.

The Fourth Kind Multipleverses Sceptics Review

Friday, November 6th, 2009

By Kate Blake- Admin Multipleverses

I love docudramas and intelligent examinations of strange and unusual events. There I said it. You need to know this to understand my feelings about the newly released film The Fourth Kind starring Mila Jovovich. The Fourth Kind is a docudrama that uses a presentation style that is usually reserved for shows on cable- but it works. The events in the film are supposedly real and raise many unusual questions. The film does not explain anything but rather asks you to examine the evidence provided and be the jury and come to your own conclusions as to what really happened. This unique presentation for me brought up as many questions as it did answers.

The first question is about the legitimacy of the events depicted in the film themselves. The movie is supposed to be about alien abduction but I found myself comparing many of the stories and filmed events to other phenomena I have seen documented. People speaking in a dead language- seeming possessed by other worldly voices and seeming to life off of a couch or bed float in the air – then disappearing to return later. These phenomena that the film wants you to believe are signs of alien abductions could just as easily be proof of demonic possession or some other kind of spirit activity in the extreme. Nome, Alaska where the events in the film take place is supposed to have more unsolved disappearances and murders/ suicides than any place else in Alaska. That there are no official numbers on this make me wonder how much of this is “real” and how much came about after the writers watched the X-Files again for the 100th time? Real or not the film is thought provoking and Mila is compelling as the psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler. If the events are real- I am not convinced that aliens have anything to do with anything. I do believe that energy can be channeled through people and places. Might much of this be a complex haunting or some kind of other spirit activity- good and bad both exist. I found myself jumping to the Supernatural/ Ghost Hunters explanations much easier than a Fox Mulder alien theory.

Speaking of Mulder- do you think that it is possible that he and Scully were responsible for about half of those FBI visits to Nome mentioned in the credits during their run in prime time in the 1990s? Renting those little planes to fly in would certainly explain why by season 6/7 their FBI bosses were coming down on them for their travel budget…..

If you are looking for an entertaining film that is full of action and big spaceships this is not the movie to see. Want to see something interesting and get into a geek out what could be the explanation discussion with your fellow sci-fi fans? Then check out the film. It will provide you with some good discussion topics.

Originally airing on NBC on July 12 and 19 of this year, “Meteor” features two scientists, Dr. Lehman and Imogene O’Neil, who discover the giant meteor Kassandra, approximately three times the size of Mt. Sunday, July 12 and Sunday, July 19 on NBC (9-11 p.m. ET)

In the new suspenseful four-hour miniseries “Meteor,” two scientists, Dr. Lehman (Emmy Award winner Christopher Lloyd, “Back to the Future”) and Imogene O’Neil (Marla Sokoloff, “The Practice”) discover that the giant meteor Kassandra, approximately three times the size of Mt. Everest, has been knocked out of its orbit and is now barreling straight for Earth, as showers of smaller meteorites begin to lay waste to major cities around the globe.

Desperate to alert authorities, Dr. Lehman and Imogene contact military scientist Dr. Chetwyn (Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Jason Alexander, “Seinfeld”) who discounts their warnings of impending doom. Undeterred, the two determined scientists decide to drive from Mexico to the nearest United States armed forces base to plead their case. The military, who has also detected the meteor, calls in Dr. Chetwyn to help devise a solution to destroy it.

Realizing that Dr. Lehman and Imogene were right, Dr. Chetwyn desperately tries to contact them for more information. Struggling to make it across the border, they run into trouble and Imogene is forced to make the trek alone. With time quickly running out, Imogene continues her tortuous journey to get in touch with the military and relay the coordinates and a plan to destroy Kassandra.
