boondock-saints
If you haven’t ever seen the cult film “The Boondock Saints” then you probably won’t be too excited about an upcoming sequel but to those of you who have seen the original- get ready for a wild , violent , raucous film coming to theaters soon. IGN posted the first new red-line trailer for the upcoming film The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. The three primaries from the original film are back with Sean Patrick Flannery, Norman Reedus and Billy Connolly as the McManus family. Father and sons have been living quietly in Ireland for the last ten years until the film opens and they find out the boys childhood priest has been gunned down in Boston. They head back to Bean Town and pick up their guns and pick up where they left off- killing bad guys in the name of God. Julie Benz ( Dexter) is the FBI agent on their trail.

All Saints has a panel at Comic Con this summer- we have some video from the panel courtesy of the Official Boondock Saints Fan Site BoondockFans – they have tons of behind the scenes video and production video on their site – check it out!

Last Month MTV featured a bit with the boys talking about the sequel and the comics- when discussing the Saints Comic Con panel this is what they had to say “The only fans more rabid than ‘Twilight’ fans have been the ‘Boondock Saints’ fans,” Gardner said of panel’s audience.

The original film came out in 1999 and was very edgy, shot with an MTV style to it with lots of music and cut away visuals. The two brothers McManus start out as meat cutters who kill two Russian mobsters in self defense then decide maybe they should work on cleaning the city of all of the unrelenting scum. Willem Dafoe plays the FBI agent who is conflicted over the brothers actions and not sure whether he should bring them in or join them. You can pick up the Boondock Saints on DVD and Blu-Ray.

Disney to buy Marvel for $4 billion Deal requires antitrust review

Monday, August 31st, 2009

FROM VARIETY:

Iron Man to be a Disney release?

Iron Man to be a Disney release?

The Walt Disney Co. has agreed to acquire Marvel Ent. in a stock and cash transaction worth $4 billion.

Under the terms of the deal, Marvel shareholders would receive $30 per share in cash plus approximately 0.745 Disney shares for each Marvel share they own. Based on the closing price of Disney stock on Friday, the transaction value is $50 per Marvel share or approximately $4 billion.

Disney will acquire ownership of more than 5,000 Marvel characters, including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor.

The boards of both companies have approved the pact, which is subject to antitrust review and the approval of Marvel shareholders.

Robert A. Iger, Mouse House prexy and CEO, said in a statement: “This transaction combines Marvel’s strong global brand and world-renowned library of characters including Iron Man, Spider-Man, X-Men, Captain America, Fantastic Four and Thor with Disney’s creative skills, unparalleled global portfolio of entertainment properties, and a business structure that maximizes the value of creative properties across multiple platforms and territories.”

Adam West talks Batman and Family Guy, Julie Newmar talks Catwoman

Monday, August 10th, 2009

This pair of interviews are from July 17 when Adam and Julie were in Syracuse for the Syracuse Nationals where the Batmobile was on display. Adam is so funny! He is still a fan favorite and was one of the busiest stars on autograph row at Comic Con in San Diego a week later. Julie Newmar was a dancer – which was unusual for a tall actress. She is also known as playing Dorkus- one of the seven brides in the classic musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

Milo Ventimiglia goes Berserk with his new comic series

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

Milo Ventimiglia known here on Multipleverses as the more sensitive Petrelli brother Peter on Heroes has decided he likes comics so much he has worked on  producing a series of his own. He was at the Golden Apple Comic store last weekend signing copies of his new book “The Berserker” Number 1. The series is about a modern guy infused with the power of the Norse Gods. Those of you not familiar to Norse mythology- the vikings were incredibly fierce warriors. The term berserking refers to how they would fly off into a seemingly uncontrollable blood rage destroying any and all who stood in their path. They usually did this naked and then covered in blood while rampaging through villages that were their targets. The comic book character is a little more modest— too bad. They’d probably sell more books with a hero going through the streets naked…

The books are being released by TopCow Productions and you can get all of the scoop on their website where you can purchase a copy of the book if your local shop is not carrying it.
