PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Based on the beloved novel and TV series of the same name, Lionsgate brings the fantasy adventure Under the Mountain to DVD for the first time. Featuring Sam Neill (Daybreakers, Jurassic Park) and charismatic newcomers Tom Cameron and Sophie McBride, the film takes audiences on a magical ride through Auckland, complete with stunning special effects by the five-time Academy Award® winning facility, Weta Digital, the group that brought to life The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Under the Mountain, featuring an audio commentary with the co-writer and director plus a “making-of” documentary, arrives on DVD on August 10th.
After the sudden death of their mother, teenage twins Rachel (McBride) and Theo (Cameron) travel to Auckland to live with their aunt and uncle. Rachel finds her close relationship with Theo challenged, as she tries to reach out to her distraught brother but he refuses to face his grief. To divert their attention, they take notice of their new surroundings and the unsettling behavior of their neighbors. After investigating the creepy house, the two find what can only be described as an alien environment plus they overhear odd whisperings of “the fire-raiser.” Certain that it will spell trouble for them both, Rachel retreats but Theo decides to set out alone to find this mythic creature.
