MV’s HunktOberfest continues with Day 10’s Silver Fox – Graham McTavish. Now that he’s no longer wandering Middle Earth as dwarf Dwalin in the Hobbit films, Graham has landed the role of the MacKenzie clan warrior chief Dougal MacKenzie on “Outlander.” Dougal is second in line to be laird, to take over the role whenever his sickly brother Colum passes. Dougal is an eternal bachelor who we get the impression is never want of warmth in his bed if he so chooses. Dougal is a gruff man with a fierce moral code and a strong desire for justice.
Why is Dougal a hunk? Dougal’s “flirting” leaves a lot to be desired, the man who spends more time working with the boys to turn them into fighters isn’t so great with whispering sweet nothings to the ladies – as poor Claire learns first hand when he comes sniffing around her. But there is something utterly visceral and masculine about Dougal and his authority which makes him mesmerizing to watch and makes you think “Claire could do worse than being the next Laird’s wife…” if only Dougal’s lust for power wasn’t greater than his lust for Claire such a thing might’ve come to pass (a laird cannot marry an outlander.) For all that Dougal presents himself as hard as nails, he’s got a softer side as well – taking time out of his day to play with his nephew or having a near heart attack when Jamie suggests that maybe he won’t marry Claire, knowing full well what would happen to the sassenach if she were to fall into Black Randall’s hands. Our clan warrior also proves that kilts look mighty hot on Scots, no matter their age.
