Well, that was a cliffhanger. I’m sure Elena will be fine in the end, but it was still an unexpected way to close out the show until next year. Where did the fall season go? Man, do I hate hiatuses. Just the word “hiatus” makes me sad and after tonight’s episode I’m even more bummed that we’ll have to wait quite a bit of time to see what happens next. But onto tonight’s festivities…if you haven’t watched the episode yet, the standard spoiler warning applies and you should stop reading now.
Review
I don’t have a ton to say about this episode. I really enjoyed it, but it felt like a set up for the second half of the season. This episode did cement the series for me. I know I will miss it while it’s gone. That’s a sign I’ve been sucked in. (Pun intended.)
I’m not a Stefan/Elena shipper, but I do like them as a couple and I’d really like them to stay together for longer than an episode. I’m over the will they/won’t they stuff and I hope they get to spend a little more angst-free moments together. I know they can’t be happy, but a little happiness would be nice.
This episode did reinforce the fact that Damon is officially my favorite character. I love his snarkiness and the fact that since he’s a selfish bastard, you never quite know what he’s going to do. Sure he may kill people, but if it suits him, he’ll save someone. I like that kind of like his lackadaisical attitude.
I’ve never liked Logan and I have my fingers crossed he’s actually dead this time. I do have to admit I did like his interrogation of Damon and his confrontation with Stefan. The actor did an awesome job of making him really unlikeable…
Miscellaneous Highlights & Thoughts
I love Caroline and Matt together. They better come an official couple.

Here’s hoping Tyler actually becomes a rounded character. I’m thinking the show needs a werewolf!

I should add I quite I like Alaric Saltzman, but I’m not sure what to make of him. I know he’s somehow supernatural and I’m interested for the reveal.
How sweet was the moment when Elena kissed Stefan while he had a vamp face. Sure it reminded me of the awesome Buffy/Angel scene in “What’s My Line?”, but I enjoyed it.
Ding dong, Logan is dead! Cake for everyone…
