Jamie Bamber is shedding his shirt to make people aware of the use of bear skins in the hats that the Palace Guard wear in Britain. Yes- those funny big black hats like the ones shown in the season 4 opener in London for Bones. The tall black hats are bear fur and Jamie thinks that it is past time for the guard to find some new materials to make the hats from. Read more about the campaign on the PETA website HERE.
I wonder if Emily Deschanel knew that the hats were made of bear skin when they were shooting in the UK? She is a big time animal lover and vegetarian- I am sure she wouldn’t approve! Speaking of Bones- David himself did a promotion for PETA some time back- urging people not to chain up their dogs and leave them helpless in a yard on a chain.
My guess is that Jamie was influenced by his Battlestar co-star Tricia Helfer who last year did a promotion for PETA urging people to help her favorite critters- which would be kitty cats.
