With the holiday season coming crashing in quickly our friends at Movieweb dug up some fun blasts from the past- proof that the Star Wars Holiday Special exists! Not available for sale- anywhere- George has worked hard to keep it under wraps, and lock and key and hidden in the CBS vaults…..
Enjoy the cheese right in time for the holidays! Best part of the special was the animated portion which featured the voices of the original cast. How cool is it having Harrison Ford, Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher facing off against animated Boba Fett in his first appearance ( this was prior to ESB) in the movies?
The musical numbers are atrocious- reminding us all why the variety show died a long overdue death in the early 80s.
The one thing that came out of this was that Star Wars fans to this day are inspired to acts of silliness when it comes to all things Star Wars. The special was the ultimate parody- though I have found a few others here to share!
My personal favorite is the classic song The Star Wars Cantina- sung in the style of Barry Manilow doing Copa Cabana to the Star Wars Cantina….
