Our affiliate BuddyTV ran an article this week examining the ratings surge that Supernatural has seen this season- it is up almost 30 % over viewings last year and far more than in season 2. They have asked the question- why? There is a poll on their site you can go to to tell them if you know anyone who is watching this year who is new to the show. I can state that I have brought lots of people to Supernatural and not always in the most conventional ways. Long before launching Multipleverses I got into video sharing and collecting trailers and clips via a variety of video swap boards and the now dearly departed Stage6 video and social networking site.
I had a lot of male friends who really liked Smallville and BSG who asked me a lot of questions about Supernatural. I encouraged them to check it out and I can count probably a dozen people all over the place who got hooked after watching a few episodes. The male fan base is finally tuning in to this action series with the mighty classic rock soundtrack- mainly due to word of mouth and personal recommendation from friends. I have to think that the Warner Brothers DVD sales that have the early seasons on sale periodically for under $20 for a box set at stores like Target who displays it 
prominently on their endcaps helps as well.
You cannot find Supernatural DVDs at used DVD stores- nobody gets rid of their disks. My season 1 disks are almost worn out . I am really hoping that Warner will release seasons 1 and 2 in Blu-Ray soon. I have season 3 on order in Blu-Ray format and am eagerly awaiting their delivery to me via Amazon. November 11- come on and get here soon!
